David is an Advisory Director to JS Careers and part of the leadership team supporting our Cyber Security recruitment division. In this role, David provides technical advisory services to JS Career’s clients in the sourcing and selection of cyber security talent across the APAC region, along with training and development of JS Careers consultants to enhance our ability to serve clients within this competitive hiring market.
David has over 20 years’ experience in CIO and CISO roles across different industries and countries, most recently as the Global Head of Technology, Cyber and Data Risk Management with Macquarie Group.
Prior to joining Macquarie Group, David worked with HSBC where he was Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) responsible for 19 countries in Asia Pacific, a region that accounts for 80% of HSBC global profits.
David is a seasoned technology executive with significant experience in both CIO and CISO roles. He has also served in a broad range of Technology, Cyber and Data Risk Management positions. David has deep experience in both Digital Transformation and Cybersecurity. A natural ‘change agent’, David has experience across Asia Pacific, Japan, Australia/NZ and USA. In his last CIO assignment as SVP and CIO for Metlife, Japan he was responsible for 1,200 IT resources that provided service to 8 million customers.
Notably, David was the winner of CIO of the Year 2014, at CUA (Credit Union of Australia) where he drove successful completion of a significant transformation project within the new Core Banking, Online and Mobile Banking systems. David also served as Chair for the FS-ISAC Strategy Committee and was awarded the Global Leaders Award in 2023 for his contributions to the cyber industry.
Eclectically, David has a strong fintech background as a Venture Capital Partner and has served as a Partner-level IT consultant with KPMG, EY and ICG.
